The centerpiece of Bar Extra was undoubtedly the custom chandelier. Designed by Atelier Zébulon Perron and Lambert & Fils, the chandelier featured mirrors recycled from vintage cabinets, creating a futuristic look. The celestial-inspired light hung over a circular wooden bar, with bands of lights running vertically, drawing the eye downward. Supported by a massive steel structure, the chandelier added an industrial grit to the space, highlighting its ephemerality.
A Temporary UFO Landing
Zébulon Perron described the space as a "UFO" landing on the strip for a few days. The installation had a unique, otherworldly presence, with flashing lights and smoke machines adding to the ambiance. The crossbeams of the steel structure were cleverly utilized to support ledges for drinks and food, a practical yet stylish addition.
Food with a Futuristic Twist
Menu Extra's executive chef, Francis Blais, developed a menu of small bites served on custom anodized aluminum trays designed by Jacob Thompson Boyd. The trays were a modern take on classic lunch trays, adding a retro-futuristic edge to the experience.
